Our commitment. theDove respects the trust you place in our ministry. We use personal information to provide the services and resources you request, support our ministry operations, and communicate with you according to your choices. We do not sell or rent donor information.

This Privacy Policy explains how theDove Media, Inc. (“theDove,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you use our Services. It also explains the choices and privacy rights that may be available to you.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to theDove.us and other websites we operate, our radio and television streaming services, theDove mobile and connected-TV applications, email, SMS/text, and postal communications, online forms, events, donations, and other services that link to this Policy (collectively, the “Services”).

This Policy does not govern third-party websites, platforms, payment pages, app stores, social networks, or services that have their own privacy policies, even when we link to or use them.

2. Personal Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with theDove, we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Contact and identifying information. Name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, ZIP code, account identifiers, and similar information.
  • SMS and messaging information. Mobile telephone number, opt-in and consent records, messaging preferences, message content you send to us, and delivery, response, and engagement information associated with theDove text-messaging program.
  • Donation and transaction information. Donation amount, frequency, designation, donation history, receipt and acknowledgment information, billing contact information, and limited payment-method information provided by our payment or donation processors. We generally do not receive or store complete payment-card or bank-account numbers submitted directly to a processor.
  • Ministry and communication information. Prayer requests, questions, comments, testimonials, survey responses, event registrations, resource and devotional preferences, and communications with our team.
  • App and account information. Login information, profile details, media activity, downloads, favorites, notes, push-notification preferences, messages or group interactions, and attendance information when those app features are enabled and used.
  • Employment information. The position sought, resume, work history, education, contact information, references, and other information submitted with an application.
  • Device, usage, and technical information. Internet Protocol address, browser and device type, operating system, device or app identifiers, referring pages, pages or content viewed, stream and playback activity, interactions, approximate location derived from an IP address, cookie data, and crash or diagnostic information.
  • Location and device permissions. If an app feature requests access to precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, notifications, or another device permission, we or our app provider collect or access that information only as permitted by your device settings and as needed for the feature you choose to use.
  • Other information you choose to provide. Information you submit by mail, telephone, email, online form, in person, or through another interaction with theDove.

3. Prayer Requests and Other Sensitive Information

Prayer requests deserve special care.

A prayer request or other message may reveal religious beliefs, physical or mental health information, crime-victim status, or other information that privacy laws may classify as sensitive. Please share only the details you are comfortable providing.

When you choose to submit a prayer request, you ask and authorize theDove to use the information you provide for our prayer ministry and closely related administrative and security purposes, subject to applicable law. You may submit a request without giving your name. We do not use prayer-request content for marketing, and we do not publish it or share it outside the trusted people and service providers who need it for those purposes unless you separately ask or authorize us to do so.

You may withdraw consent for future processing by contacting us as described below. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal, and some information may be retained when required by law or reasonably necessary for security, recordkeeping, or legal obligations.

4. Sources of Personal Information

We collect personal information:

  • Directly from you, such as when you donate, subscribe, request a devotional, submit a prayer request, contact us, apply for employment, register for an event, or use an interactive app feature.
  • Automatically, through cookies, software development kits, server logs, analytics tools, streaming technology, and similar technologies when you use the Services.
  • From service providers and platforms, such as app, streaming, donation, mailing, communications, analytics, and social-media providers that support your interaction with theDove.
  • From other lawful sources, including public sources or referrals, when appropriate and permitted by law.

5. How We Use Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • Provide the Services, including radio and television streaming, on-demand media, downloads, app functions, accounts, and customer or technical support.
  • Fulfill your requests, including prayer ministry, devotionals, publications, mailings, event participation, and inquiries.
  • Process and administer donations, including recurring gifts, receipts, acknowledgments, donor records, accounting, fraud prevention, and tax or legal compliance.
  • Communicate with you, including email and SMS/text messages, service messages, ministry updates, newsletters, fundraising communications, event information, and marketing communications consistent with your selections and applicable law.
  • Operate and improve theDove, including audience measurement, analytics, troubleshooting, research, content planning, personalization, and development of new features.
  • Protect people and systems, including authentication, security monitoring, fraud detection, abuse prevention, and enforcement of our terms and policies.
  • Evaluate employment applications, communicate with applicants, and manage recruiting and hiring.
  • Meet legal and organizational obligations, including recordkeeping, audits, compliance, dispute resolution, and responding to lawful requests.

We may also use information for another purpose that we explain when collecting it or for which you give consent.

6. How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients when reasonably necessary:

  • Service providers. Vendors that provide website hosting, app services, streaming, cloud storage, donation and payment processing, email, text messaging, printing and mailing, analytics, security, technical support, accounting, and professional services. These providers may use information only as permitted by their agreements and applicable law.
  • App and platform providers. Providers such as Subsplash, app stores, connected-TV platforms, and media-distribution services that support app accounts, content delivery, messaging, notifications, diagnostics, and other enabled features.
  • Ministry, promotional, or advertising partners. Only when you direct us, give affirmative consent, or when disclosure is otherwise permitted by law. For example, a resource-request form may offer an optional choice to receive updates from selected partners.
  • Professional advisers. Accountants, auditors, attorneys, insurers, consultants, and other advisers subject to appropriate duties of confidentiality.
  • Legal and safety recipients. Government authorities, courts, law enforcement, or other parties when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, property, or the integrity of the Services.
  • Organizational transaction recipients. Parties involved in a merger, reorganization, financing, transfer of assets, or similar organizational transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
  • Recipients you choose. Other persons or organizations when you ask us to share information or intentionally use a feature that makes information available to them.

We may disclose aggregated or deidentified information that cannot reasonably be linked to you, as permitted by law.

7. Donor Privacy and Payment Processing

We do not sell, rent, or exchange donor names, contact information, donation history, or payment information for another organization’s independent fundraising or marketing. We may share donor information with service providers that help process gifts, maintain records, issue receipts, communicate with donors, conduct audits, or support ministry operations. We may also disclose information when you direct us, give affirmative consent, or when the law requires or permits disclosure.

Online donations and certain other transactions are handled by third-party processors. Their privacy policies and security practices govern the information they independently collect. Please review the notice presented on the payment or donation page before submitting financial information.

8. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Technologies

We and our providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, software development kits, and similar technologies to keep the Services working, remember preferences, understand audience and content performance, measure communications, improve the Services, and support outreach or advertising. These technologies may collect device, browser, usage, and interaction information over time.

You can limit cookies through browser settings and adjust app permissions, advertising identifiers, and tracking choices through your device settings. Some settings may affect functionality. Where required by law, we provide additional consent or opt-out controls and honor legally recognized universal opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, for applicable processing.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some laws may define certain disclosures involving online advertising or analytics as a “sale,” “sharing,” or use for targeted advertising even when no money changes hands. Where those laws apply, you may opt out as described in Section 11.

9. Your Communication and Device Choices

  • Email. Use the unsubscribe link in a promotional email or contact us. We may still send non-promotional messages about donations, accounts, requests, or transactions.
  • Postal mail. Contact us to change or stop optional mailings. We may retain address information needed for receipts, tax records, or legal obligations.
  • Text messages. See Section 10 for consent, message frequency, charges, help, opt-out methods, and mobile-information protections that apply to theDove SMS/text-messaging program.
  • Push notifications. Turn notifications off in the app or device settings.
  • App permissions and accounts. Change permissions in device settings. If the app offers an account-deletion function, you may use it; you may also contact us for assistance with a deletion request.
  • Cookies and targeted advertising. Use available cookie controls, browser settings, device settings, a legally recognized universal opt-out signal, or the privacy-request methods below.

10. SMS/Text Messaging Program

If you provide a mobile telephone number and affirmatively opt in, you consent to receive recurring SMS and MMS messages from or on behalf of theDove at the number you provide, including messages sent using automated technology. Messages may include ministry and program updates, biblical encouragement or devotional content, event information and reminders, surveys, fundraising and donation opportunities, and other informational or promotional communications. Your consent is voluntary and is not a condition of making a donation, obtaining content, or using the Services. By opting in, you confirm that you are the subscriber or customary user of the number provided and are authorized to consent to messages at that number.

Message frequency varies and may be frequent, including multiple messages per week during active campaigns. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile service plan. Delivery is subject to carrier and network availability.

You may withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE, or by using another reasonable method that clearly tells us you no longer want text messages. We will honor valid opt-out requests as required by law and may send one non-promotional message confirming the opt-out. For assistance, reply HELP, call 541-776-5368, or use the contact form at https://thedove.us/about/.

We use mobile numbers, consent records, messaging preferences, message content, and delivery or engagement information to operate and secure the program, deliver messages, respond to you, troubleshoot delivery, honor communication choices, prevent fraud or abuse, measure program performance, and document compliance.

Mobile information is protected.

We do not sell or rent mobile information. We do not share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties, except with vendors, telecommunications carriers, and other providers acting for us as needed to operate, deliver, secure, and support the messaging program, or when disclosure is required by law.

11. Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to request that we:

  • Confirm and provide access to personal information we process about you, including a portable copy where required.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete personal information that we hold about you.
  • Provide information about disclosures, including categories of recipients and, where required, a list of specific third parties that received personal information.
  • Honor an opt-out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling using personal information.
  • Withdraw consent for future processing when we rely on consent, including certain processing of sensitive information.

To exercise a privacy right, use the contact form at https://thedove.us/about/ and write “Privacy Request” at the beginning of your message, call 541-776-5368, or mail a written request to the address in Section 18. Please describe the right you wish to exercise and the information or interaction involved.

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. The verification process will be proportionate to the nature and sensitivity of the request. You may use an authorized agent where permitted by law, but we may request proof of authorization and may still need to verify your identity directly.

We will respond within the period required by applicable law, generally within 45 days for qualifying requests. If we deny a request, you may appeal by using the same contact methods and clearly labeling the message “Privacy Appeal.” We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

12. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide requested Services, maintain ministry and donor relationships, satisfy accounting and tax requirements, manage employment applications, resolve disputes, protect security, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary based on the type and sensitivity of information, the reason it was collected, consent, and applicable law.

Prayer-request content is retained only as long as reasonably needed for the prayer ministry and closely related administrative, security, or legal purposes. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete, deidentify, or securely dispose of it, subject to lawful exceptions and routine backup cycles.

13. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. The safeguards we use are intended to reflect the nature and sensitivity of the information, including the special care appropriate for prayer requests, donor records, financial transactions, and employment materials. However, no system, transmission, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

14. Children’s Privacy

Although theDove may offer family and children’s programming, the Services and their interactive features are intended for a general audience and are not designed to collect personal information from children under 13. A child under 13 should not submit a form, create an account, make a donation, or use an interactive feature without a parent’s or legal guardian’s involvement and any consent required by law.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information without appropriate permission, please contact us. We will take reasonable steps to delete the information or obtain appropriate parental consent. We do not knowingly sell personal information of minors or use it for targeted advertising or profiling in violation of law.

15. Third-Party Links, Platforms, and Embedded Content

The Services may link to or display content from donation processors, vehicle-donation services, app stores, Subsplash, YouTube, social networks, connected-TV platforms, maps, and other third parties. Those services may collect information independently and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review their notices before providing information or using their features.

16. Processing in the United States

theDove is based in Oregon, United States. If you access the Services from another country, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate. Those locations may have privacy laws that differ from the laws where you live.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our Services, practices, providers, or legal obligations. We will post the revised Policy and update the “Last updated” date. When required by law, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent before using personal information for a materially different purpose.
