Friday Sports Minute: Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, College Hoops, PGA

By Jim McCoy Fri 3rd January Sportscollege football
The Cotton Bowl is being played this evening in Arlington, Texas, with Missouri playing Oklahoma State. In years gone by this would have been a game featuring two Big 12 schools but now that Missouri plays in the SEC, things have changed a bit. The Tigers enter the game 11-2 while Oklahoma State is 10-2. Missouri leads the overall series 28-23. MIAMI (AP) - Tonight's Orange Bowl features Ohio State of the Big Ten against Clemson of the ACC. The Buckeyes, who are 12-1, are coming off a loss in the conference title game to Michigan State while Clemson is 10-2. NEW ORLEANS (AP) - In case you missed the result of last night's Sugar Bowl, the Sooners of Oklahoma beat Alabama 45-31. Trevor Knight had a big night for the Sooners, completing 32 of 44 passes for 348 yards and four touchdowns. The Crimson Tide finished their season in a rather unique way for them, with two straight losses. WACO, Texas (AP) - In men's college basketball tonight there is only one game involving a ranked school. That contest is being played in Waco, Texas, as ninth-ranked Baylor is playing host to Savannah State. Baylor has won 11 straight home games and is 11-1 on the current season. KAPALUA, Hawaii (AP) - The first round of the PGA's Tournament of Champions starts today in Hawaii. The field consists of winners from last season but does not include stars like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, who are skipping the event.
