If the quick turnaround from a night to a day game had any ill effect on the Medford Rogues, it didn't show Thursday. Rogues lefty Mac Acker allowed just seven hits, and one walk, while striking out eight in Medford's 3-1 victory over the Victoria HarbourCats. The Rogues sweep the three game series and raise their West Coast League record to 17-19.
Acker pitched eight innings of shut out baseball before surrendering a solo home run to Dylan LaVelle in the 9th. Hector Lujan came on in relief and picked up his second save of the 2013 campaign.
Shortstop Joe Chavez and and center fielder Spencer Smith led an 8-hit Rogues attack. Smith and Chavez has an RBI each. Three HarbourCats errors led to two unearned runs charged against Victoria's starting picther Joe Navilhon, who absorbed the loss.
Friday night, the Rogues continue their 6-game home stand when they open a three game set against Klamath Falls.
