INDIANS VS. BLUE JAYS
Rookie right-hander Danny Salazar lost a bid for a no-hitter in the sixth inning as the Indians beat the Blue Jays, 4-2. He lasted six innings, allowing a run on just two hits. Salazar, who started the season in double-A, struck out seven.
DEREK JETER RETURNS
Derek Jeter returned to the Yankees lineup today and in his first at bat of the season got on base with an infield single. Jeter, who missed nine months with ankle problems, bounced the ball to Royals third baseman Miguel Tejada, who wasn't able to handle it.
BILLUPS RETURNS TO MOTOR CITY
The Detroit Pistons are bringing back the hero of their 2004 Championship run. Guard Chauncey Billups has signed a two-year contract with the Pistons, who traded him to Denver back in 2008.
12 STAGE TOUR DE FRANCE
The 12th stage of the Tour de France took place today and the winner was Germany's Marcel Kittel. Chris Froome of England finished 14th but retained the Yellow Jersey, symbolic of being the overall leader.
GOLF'S U.S. SENIOR OPEN
The U.S. Senior Open started today in Omaha, Neb. Peter Jacobsen, the 2004 winner, was forced to withdraw because of heat-related illness after completing nine holes of play. He was treated by paramedics and did not require additional medical care.
