SOU Raider Men Take On Host Team At Nationals

Fresh off their win over Madonna on Wednesday, the 18th-ranked Southern Oregon University men's basketball squad prepares to square off with College of The Ozarks on their home floor at the NAIA Division II National Tournament. The Bobcats upset 3rd-ranked Northwood. College of The Ozarks has plenty of size to match the Raiders.Of particular concern is 6-foot-6 forward Mike Wiebe. The senior is the nation's second-leading scorer, averaging 23 points a game on 48-percent shooting. Nathane Simniok, who also stands at 6'6, provides the second hald of a powerful 1-2 punch, averaging 8.5 rebounds a game. On Wednesday, Eric Thompson scored 30 points in SOU's victory over Madonna. Kyle Tedder added 20. The Raiders enter today's action at 25-9. The Bobcats are 21-12, out of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference. Today's second-round winner advances to the tournament's final eight.
