News - Oregon Flu Update - 16 Jan 13

By admin Wed 16th January News
Cases of flu in the state have spike recently, mostly within the past two weeks. Health officials say an outbreak of 34 cases related to the flu is a bit early this year as most cases are diagnosed in February. While many might think the flu shot will prevent them from getting the flu, this year the vaccination is being seen effective in about 62% of those getting the shot. It's what physician's assistant Rochelle Roulier says they're seeing at 'Valley Immediate Care' in Medford. The number of flu cases are quick to diagnose once someone comes to the clinic because of technology that executive director Brent Kell says identifies whether a patient has the virus within 15 minutes.
