Bumgarner was 2-0 with one save, a 0.43 and nine hits allowed in 21 innings in three games. Pablo Sandoval was 3-for-3 with two runs scored last night's victory, and Michael Morse singled home the tiebreaking run to finish with two RBIs. LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles Lakers rookie forward Julius Randle is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his broken right leg. The seventh overall pick in this year's draft was injured midway through the fourth quarter of his NBA season debut Tuesday night against Houston. He is expected to make a full recovery, but the Lakers anticipate he won't play this season. IRVING, Texas (AP) - Dallas owner Jerry Jones says quarterback Tony Romo's status could be a game-time decision against Arizona on Sunday as he is coming off his third back injury in 18 months. Jones said on his radio show that Romo's injury would not end his season. The Cowboys have put linebacker Justin Durant on season-ending injured reserve with a torn arm muscle suffered in Monday's loss to Washington. ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - The University of Georgia has been told by the NCAA that running back Todd Gurley must sit out until Nov. 15 for accepting more than $3,000 for autographed memorabilia and other items over a two-year period. Gurley missed the last two games while the school investigated allegations of improper benefits. The school says it will appeal the ruling. NEW YORK (AP) - The NHL has hit New York Rangers defenseman John Moore with a five-game suspension without pay for an illegal hit to the head of Minnesota Wild forward Erik Haula. Moore was assessed a match penalty in Monday's game when he delivered a shoulder to Haula's head in the New York zone after Haula shot the puck. Moore will begin serving the suspension Saturday and will be eligible to return on Nov. 11 at home against Pittsburgh. http://thedove.us/sports/2014/10/30/thursday-sports-minute-giants-are-champs-lakers-rookie-out-nhl-more#comments Sports Thu, 30 Oct 2014 17:38:39 +0000 Jim McCoy 9299 at http://thedove.us Seahawks Host High School Team Scarred By Shooting http://thedove.us/sports/2014/10/30/seahawks-host-high-school-team-scarred-shooting Pete Carroll says it was an "amazing experience" for the Seattle Seahawks to host the football team from Marysville-Pilchuck High less than a week after a shooting at the school left three students dead, including the shooter. The high school team practiced at the Seahawks' facility Tuesday. Carroll was there to meet the team, along with a number of players, including cornerback Richard Sherman, safety Earl Thomas and wide receiver Doug Baldwin. Sherman said, "They seemed like for a moment in time they forgot what happened." Marsyville-Pilchuck was scheduled to play Oak Harbor last Friday for a division title, but Oak Harbor forfeited the game to the Tomahawks. Marysville-Pilchuck is scheduled to play its first game since the shooting on Friday night. http://thedove.us/sports/2014/10/30/seahawks-host-high-school-team-scarred-shooting#comments Sports Thu, 30 Oct 2014 17:37:08 +0000 Jim McCoy 9298 at http://thedove.us Today Is The Last Day To Mail Your Ballots http://thedove.us/news/2014/10/30/today-last-day-mail-your-ballots <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-story"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="filefield-file"><img class="filefield-icon field-icon-image-jpeg" alt="image/jpeg icon" src="http://thedove.us/sites/all/modules/filefield/icons/image-x-generic.png" /><a href="http://thedove.us/sites/default/files/images/vote election-gfx copy_8.jpg" type="image/jpeg; length=20898">vote election-gfx copy.jpg</a></div> </div> </div> </div> The Oregon secretary of state's office says Thursday is the last day for residents to put their ballots in the mail if they want them to arrive in time for Tuesday's election. The victim called Medford police to report he had been robbed in the middle of making a marijuana sale at around 3 p.m. Wednesday. The victim reported the contraband was stolen at gunpoint. The victim provided Medford Police a description of three suspects and their vehicle- a silver Scion Cube. An officer spotted the vehicle on Main Street near Riverside within minutes of the 911 call. The occupants inside matched the description of the suspects. Because guns were involved, a "high risk" traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of West Main and Holly. The three were arrested without incident. A search warrant was obtained and about 10 pounds of pot were found in the car, along with a gun reported stolen in Mississippi. 23-year Robert Custer from the Oakland, California area is being charged with first degree robbery. Custer is being held on a million dollars bail. The other suspects were interviewed and released. http://thedove.us/news/2014/10/30/medford-man-arrested-after-drug-deal-gone-bad#comments News robbery Robert Custer Thu, 30 Oct 2014 17:19:10 +0000 Jim McCoy 9296 at http://thedove.us Report: Oregon's Economy Is Growing http://thedove.us/news/2014/10/30/report-oregons-economy-growing <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-story"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="filefield-file"><img class="filefield-icon field-icon-image-jpeg" alt="image/jpeg icon" src="http://thedove.us/sites/all/modules/filefield/icons/image-x-generic.png" /><a href="http://thedove.us/sites/default/files/images/oregon economy copy_1.jpg" type="image/jpeg; length=17119">oregon economy copy.jpg</a></div> </div> </div> </div> A report from the University of Oregon says most metro economies in the state are expanding at or above their normal rates. The university's Regional Economic Indexes also says more people are looking for work around Medford, Salem, Eugene and Bend. The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/1tTxb9w) the increasing number of people looking for work has caused the unemployment rate to increase in some areas. It's been around 7 percent statewide since the start of the year. The university's report suggests the rise in available workers may be a sign the recovery is picking up. The indexes show the Portland-area economy is growing well ahead of normal. Falling applications for jobless benefits indicate fewer layoffs. http://thedove.us/news/2014/10/30/report-oregons-economy-growing#comments News economy Thu, 30 Oct 2014 16:51:47 +0000 Jim McCoy 9295 at http://thedove.us Burglary Suspect Arrested In Rogue River Area http://thedove.us/news/2014/10/30/burglary-suspect-arrested-rogue-river-area <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-story"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="filefield-file"><img class="filefield-icon field-icon-image-jpeg" alt="image/jpeg icon" src="http://thedove.us/sites/all/modules/filefield/icons/image-x-generic.png" /><a href="http://thedove.us/sites/default/files/images/Garwood Jarrod.jpg" type="image/jpeg; length=57182">Garwood Jarrod.jpg</a></div> </div> </div> </div> Jackson County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Tuesday that they say was responsible for a burglary in the 9,000 block of West Evans Creek Road. 32-year old Jarrod Garwood was arrested at his home in the 5,000 block of East Evans Creek road.
