A deputy sheriff on Southern Oregon's coast who spent 45 minutes battling the surf and keeping a teenager's head above water was described as delirious and losing consciousness when rescuers were finally able to pull the two from 50-degree water. A paraglider who lost control of his chute was rescued a Woodrat Mountain outside of Ruch Thursday night. The Applegate Valley Fire District received the 911 call at 6:30 p.m. The pilot lost control shortly after takeoff, and fell 50-75 vertical feet, landing in trees and rocks about 125 feet down the cliff.
