Three men are under arrest following a large fight involving what appeared to be gang members on Sunday night. Steve Best has the details…
Police are still investigating an incident in which they were called to the 400 block of South Columbus Avenue early Sunday morning to break up a fight involving 15 to 20 people armed with knives, bats and clubs.
Three men aged between 18 and 34 – one of whom is believed to be a member of a local gang - were arrested on charges of riot and disorderly conduct, while a 31-year-old woman was arrested for disorderly conduct.
Police Lt Bob Hansen said initial investigations found the fight started over comments some of the combatants considered disrespectful to a female.
Authorities said that no serious injuries were suffered by anyone involved. The incident was just blocks from where a large fight took place in July in which police had to disperse a crowd of 40 people, and in which 10 people were arrested.
