Talent police will conduct a crosswalk sting from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Talent Avenue and Rogue River Parkway.
The operation will focus on enforcing laws relating to pedestrian safety, police said in a news release about the effort. Oregon law requires drivers to stop and remain stopped when a pedestrian is walking in their lane of traffic or the adjacent lane.
While police focus on educating drivers about pedestrian safety, officers will cite people for other violations, particularly using cell phones when driving.
During a crosswalk sting in June, officers arrested a man on charges of possession and delivery of heroin and possession of methamphetamine after they reportedly found eight small packages of black tar heroin and one of meth in a truck that failed to stop at the crosswalk.
