Royal Avenue in Medford has been closed off this morning due to a standoff with police. According to a Medford Mail Tribune report, a SWAT team was trying to get to an assault suspect who had barricaded himself in an apartment at 2:30 a.m. The street was shut down at 7 a.m. A victim in the assault has been hospitalized with serious injuries. Details on the assault have not yet been released.
