Lightning Prompts Red Flag Warning, Touches Off Small Fires

Southern Oregon will remain under a red flag warning until 6 p.m. as an "abundant" amount is expected throughout the day. The alert was issued via the National Weather Service. The Rogue and Umpqua Basins are affected, as are the Cascade and Siskiyou mountains. Lightning has caused small fires within the region. Three small fires have been reported near Woodrat Mounatin in Jackson County, plus a fire was discovered near Murphy.
