The public has a chance to comment on the idea of arming teachers at Eagle Point when the school district's Weapons Safety Committee holds a public forum at 5 p.m. today at Hillside Elementary School. Committee member Terry Marks, a retired police officer says he hopes parents will come out to discuss the issue and ask questions, rather than activists on either side of the issue. The Mail Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1qqRzZ2 ) the committee will make a recommendation at the May 14 school board meeting. The committee is considering a number of options to improve school safety, including allowing teachers to carry guns.
