The employment report for August reflects a generally unchanged picture for southwestern Oregon. Josephine, Coos, and Curry Counties all showed small job gains, while Jackson County actually lost 20 jobs. At the same time, all four counties show an improvement when comparing August, 2013 to August, 2012.
Jackson County remains at 9.8 percent unemployment from the month before. Josephine County's rate dropped from 11.3 to 11.2 percent. In spite of job gains, Coos County's unemployment rate went up from 10.3 to 10.4 percent. Curry County's unemployment is 10.7 percent from 10.6 percent.
