Thunderstorm are anticipated in Oregon's Fire Zones, but they could cause mixed results. Smoke can be reduced by the added moisture in the firefighting areas, but to make a big difference in stopping the fires an adequate amount of rain is needed. It's something Oregon Department of Forestry Spokesperson Caitlin Goins says is not happening with the latest rain in Southern Oregon. Because of the lightning the Department of Forestry has deployed a reconnaissance plane to search for smoke that might indicate new fires that could have been ignited.
