An anonymous tip to Medford Police has helped them recover a trailer stolen from Crater Meat Packing last Monday, and the arrest of the suspected thief. 47-year old Scott Schutt of Gold Hill is in Jackson County Jail with bail set at $5,000. The tipster identified a truck used in the theft, which was found in the 1500 block of 2nd Street in Gold Hill. Police also found the diamond plated box that had been attached to the trailer, but had been removed. Detectives interviewed Schutt and determined he was involved in the theft. Information from the suspect led police to the recovery of the trailer, which was found in the 1900 block of Pepper Street in Medford. The trailer was returned to its owner. A second suspect has not yet been identified or found. Authorities are working on finding him. Schutt has not yet been linked to the stealing of six other truck trailers in the last seven months.
