Items discarded into a motel dumpster led to the arrest of a 22-year old man Medford police are holding responsible for a number of recent burglaries. 22-year old Tyree Hairston also faces drug charges as well.
Last Friday, police were flagged down by a person who said they found a number of items that appeared to be stolen in a dumpster at the Valli Hai motel on Court Street. The items fit the description of property stolen from a home on Beall Lane in Central Point last Thursday. Police checked the list of guests lodged at the motel, leading them to Hairston, who was arrested without incident.
While searching his room, police found property stolen last week from homes on Hedy Jane and Mindy Sue last week. They also found items taken in a break-in that occurred in a home on Miracle Lane. Methamphetemine was also discovered during the search.
All told, it's estimated Hairston allegedly stole over $15,000 worth of property- including jewelry. Prior to the contact from a citizen who found the stolen property in the dumpster, Hairston was a suspect in the burglaries. Until Friday, authorities did not know the suspect's whereabouts.
