Bumper Crop of Mosquitoes In Bandon

Bandon area residents have noticed an unusually high number of mosquitoes this summer. Now the Fish and Wildlife Service and Oregon State University are studying conditions in the Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, where the insects breed. The World reports the study hopes to find out why so many mosquitoes are being produced in the estuary of the lower Coquille River and what measures, such as increased tidal circulation, might control them.
