Authorities are investigating a suspicious fire at the Zion Lutheran Church in Medford they were called out to after 2 a.m. Friday morning. KTVL-TV reports Medford Fire & Rescue believes the fire could have been intentionally started because a cross on the front of the building was burning and the fire started outside. Fire crews say the flames spread to an attic and there was some water damage, but the building is not a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The west Medford area has experienced a number of recent fires that appear to have been cases of arson. Later, at 4:19 a.m., a second fire was reported on nearby on West Main Street. The vacant home's fire was extinguished within ten minutes of the fire crew's arrival. The cause of both fires are under investigation.
