Traffic Stop On Interstate 5 Leads To Discovery of 11 Pounds of Marijuana

The Oregon State Police turned up 11 pounds of marijuana during traffic stop Friday at 7:40 a.m. on Interstate 5 near Cottage Grove. A trooper stopped a vehicle driven by 32-year old Robert Pearson Jr. of Federal Way, Washington for speeding. A search of his Nissan Altima turned up 11 pounds of pot. The value of the drug seized is estimated at $25-thousand. Pearson was transported to Lane County Jail and faces a charge of illegal possession of a controlled substance.
