The search continues on Mount Hood for Salem dentist Kinley Adams who failed to return Saturday from a climb.
Bad weather and poor visibility curtailed the search Monday.
Early Tuesday, organizers reported a "small break in the weather," and a party of volunteer searchers set out on a snow machine to assess the safety of climbing above the glacier on the route Adams planned to take.
The Clackamas County sheriff's office says another party plans to search lower elevations.
The 59-year-old Adams is described as an experienced climber.
The sheriff's office is coordinating a search by Portland Mountain Rescue, Mountain Wave Communications, American Medical Response Reach and Treat Team, and Hood River Crag Rats.
