By Jim McCoy Thu 6th June Newsanimal abuseTerry Nixon
A Medford man is in jail, and faces aggravated animal abuse charges after allegedly shooting and killing his own dog- a Chihuahua and Jack Russell mix. Last night at 9:02 p.m., a witness called police with the report of what he saw. When authorities contacted 60-year old Terry Nixon, he denied knowledge of the shooting and refused to let police in his home. Police then contacted the reporting witness and they contacted another witness who brought the animal’s body to authorities. A search of Nixon’s home turned up a 9mm that was allegedly used to shoot the dog. Police say Nixon had apparently become upset with the dog after the dog had gone to the bathroom in his home and shot the animal at close range in his backyard. Nixon is jailed on $17,000 bail. Along with the aforementioned animal abuse charge, he also faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering, and 2nd degree disorderly conduct.
