Former QB's Death Remains A Mystery

By Jim McCoy Wed 29th May Sportscollege footballCullen Finnerty
An autopsy so far has failed to pinpoint the cause of death for a Michigan man who played Division II football and was one of the most successful quarterbacks in college history. Lake County Sheriff Robert Hilts says there's no obvious sign of heart trauma on Cullen Finnerty. Foul play isn't suspected. The sheriff expects to learn more about the cause of death later this week. The 30-year-old Finnerty won more than 50 games and three national championships at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., the last in 2006. His body was discovered Tuesday in the woods in western Michigan after he disappeared during a family trip to a cottage. Finnerty was fishing Sunday when he became separated from his father-in-law and others.
