Jackson County Jail Inmate Attempts Suicide

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports an inmate at the Jackson County attempted to kill himself while in jail. The inmate, Kyle Mellon, 19, of Medford was found at 12:35 a.m. on Monday during a routine check of his cell. A Jackson County Sheriff’s Corrections Deputy immediately called for backup and began performing CPR on Mellon. CPR was performed for about 11 minutes while Mercy Flights responded to the Jackson County Jail. Mellon was found to have a heartbeat, and was transferred to Providence Medford Medical Center where he is still undergoing treatment. Mellon was in custody for Robbery and Online Sexual Corruption of a Minor. The case remains under investigation.
