Vandalism Slows Ashland Watershed Thinning Project

By Jim McCoy Thu 2nd May NewsAshland watershedVandalism
Vandals contaminated the fuel of a log loader being used in a tree thinning operation near Ashland. The Jackson County sheriff's department says the equipment was vandalized over the weekend. The loader sputtered to a stop Monday and a mechanic had to replace the fuel and filter. The department says graffiti left on the side of the loader said, "kill cops not trees." The Mail Tribune reports the thinning is part of the Ashland Forest Resiliency Project to reduce the risk of wildfire in the Ashland Creek watershed.
