Additional State Trooper Hours Committed To Central Oregon Over Spring Break
The Oregon State Police will be stepping up efforts during spring break in central Oregon to keep a watchful eye for dangerous drivers. Thanks to overtime grant money, additional resources will be committed to Highway 97 near Bend, Highway 26 in the Madras area, and Highway 20 near Sisters.
The Oregon Department of Transportation recently provided OSP grant funds to help cut down on driver behavior that leads to vehicle crashes. The aforementioned areas are among those determined by statistics to be the most dangerous- especially for what are defined as roadway departure crashes- those non-intersection crashes that occur when a vehicle crosses an edge line, center line, or otherwise leaves the roadway.
