Oregon lawmakers have heard from hobbyists and businesses concerned about a bill to regulate the use of drones by private citizens and law enforcement agencies.
Hobbyists told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday the bill would restrict their fun. Business representatives said it would discourage developing a drone manufacturing industry in Oregon.
Senate Bill 71 would require law enforcement officers to get a search warrant before using a drone for surveillance.
It would bar citizens from using drones to eavesdrop, wiretap, spy or stalk.
The measure defines a drone as an unmanned flying aircraft.
The committee hearing will reconvene Thursday.
