Medford Police were dispatched to Black Bird yesterday at around 3 p.m. on a call pertaining to suspicious behavior by a shopper. Store employees
believed a man was attempting to steal .40 caliber ammunition and a holster. Medford Police contacted the suspect,24-year old Andrew James Caucutt, who is a convicted felon and on felony probation for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. No actual theft occurred in the store. Based on evidence found at the scene, police believed that Caucutt owned a handgun. Oregon State Law prohibits felons from possessing firearms. Medford Police obtained a search warrant to search his residence in the 200 block of Wilson Road in Central Point. Upon searching the residence, officers located a loaded Springfield Arms XDM semi-automatic .40 caliber handgun. This gun was located within reach of a 5 year old child who lives at the residence. This gun was determined to have been stolen during a burglary in the 2600 block of Terr-mont Street, in White City last October 31st.
Caucutt was most recently accused of firing into a Truax Road residence from a moving vehicle.
