The Oregon Land Board has announced the disbursement of 26 million dollars to the Common School Fund. That’s 10 percent more than was given out at this time last year.
The money comes from the management of public lands- including range lands, forest lands, and water ways. The fund was established when Oregon became a state in 1859.
In our region, the following districts received the following disbursements:
Klamath County $297,051.70
Grants Pass $276,143.37
Three Rivers (Josephine County) $229,590.61
Central Point $213,223.88

Klamath Falls City Schools $153,422.68
Phoenix- Talent $128,411.13
Rogue River $43,724.98

The population of children 4-20 determines each county’s share of the earnings.
