Contractors have begun leveling ground and pouring concrete for the foundation of an Apple data center at Prineville in Central Oregon
The Bend Bulletin reports that building permits were approved Oct. 19 for the 338,000-square-foot building, and the work started shortly after that.
The estimated project cost is about $67.1 million, according to county permits for construction, electrical and mechanical work, and plumbing and sprinkler installation.
Apple hasn't released a construction timeline nor elaborated on its plans for a second structure. They're expected to house servers for Apple's iCloud data. The company paid $5.6 million in February for 160 acres of vacant land where it is now building.
