The Ashland City Council has voted pursue further the idea of a day center for the homeless. The city would pay 100-thousand dollars over two years to lease a building out.
According to the Ashland Daily Tidings, the city will accept applications from social service agencies help those in need. One will be selected, but will be encouraged to work with others. The goal is to have the center operating by next summer.
The proposal was proposed earlier this year by city councilors Dennis Slattery and Greg Lemhouse.
