After 40 years in law enforcement, Jackson County Undersheriff Rod Countryman is retiring. He has served as the sheriff’s department second in command since 2006.
Countryman’s career began in 1972 in Nevada. During his time there, he served in both the criminal and corrections divisions on law enforcement. In 1985, Countryman attended the 142nd session of the FBI national academy.
His career also included two years as Gold Hill Chief of Police from 2002 to 2004.
A small reception is planned for Countryman later this week. Awards and appreciation presentation will take place at the event.
