Oregon Guard Soldiers To Prepare for 2014 Deployment
The Army has told an Oregon National Guard unit to start preparing for deployment to Afghanistan in 2014.
The Guard started notifying the 1,800 members of the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team over the weekend.
The Oregonian reports the year-long deployment could be canceled or altered as U.S. troops are supposed to withdraw from Afghanistan in 2014. The Oregon Guard could be among the last U.S. troop in the country.
The brigade deployed to Iraq three years ago and provided security for military bases and convoys.
