Passerby Alerts Residents, Fire Department To Fire
An alert passerby in Grants Pass this morning helped keep a residential fire from becoming a tragedy. Daron Dawson was driving to work on Williams Highway when he saw smoke coming from what looked like an open burn on Bryan Court.
Dawson arrived at a home at 813 Bryan Court to discover a fire at the back of the home. He knocked on the door, getting no response. Dawson ran out to the street to get the address and called 911.
Once he returned the residence, he found two occupants about 20 feet inside the home. Dawson helped them out of the residence unharmed.
Neither the residents nor firefighters reported hearing a smoke alarm. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
