Steep terrain and hot weather are impeding efforts by firefighters to conquer the Lick and Hello Fires in the Red Buttes Wilderness Area. Paul Galloway with the Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest says additional crews will be joining the cause today.

The Lick Fire- two miles south of Applegate Lake- has burned 80 acres and is 10% contained. Seven 20 person crews are fighting it today.

The Hello Fire has grown to 220 acres and is at 0% containment. The blaze located in the Red Buttes Wilderness has five 20 person crews and 10 smoke jumpers working on it.

Five helicopters will be working both fires.

The Emily, Cedar Basin and Goff Butte fires have been declared out, and the Fruit Fire is officially declared contained.
