Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward to catch a man who scammed a 92-year old Medford woman on July 1.

The victim says a nice young man came to her door, and said he was selling magazine subscriptions to support war veterans. He also claimed he was the grandson of a neighbor, which later turned out not to be true. When she said she didn’t have any cash on hand, the suspect got her to agree to giving him her a-t-m card on the promise he’d bring it back. The suspect never returned. It was later discovered the suspect went to three different ATM machines and withdrew a total of $900.

The male is described as being around 20-years old with short brown hair with no visible marks or tattoos. He also wore a purple and yellow bracelet on his left wrist.

Anyone with information is asked to either call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at (541) 774-8333, or Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon at 1-800-850-0580.
