Medford Man Dies In Off-Road Crash

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports that a 71-year old Medford man died Wednesday in a motorcycle crash in the Applegate area. Eugene Lee Cannady was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Deputies and medical personnel responded to a call about. the crash in the area French Gulch Road and U.S. Forest Service Road 3040.

Witnesses say Cannady was riding with a group of five or six, when he went off the trail and crashed. He was riding an off-road bike. 

The U.S. Forest Service aided with the recovery of the body. Due to the remote location, it took several hours to hike Cannady's body out of the wilderness.
