An incident that started with a homeowner walking in on a burglary, ended with the suspect surrendering after a 3 hour stand-off with police.  21-year old Michael Ryan Quigley of Grants Pass is in Josephine County Jail, charged with a home invasion robbery of a residence in the 2000 block of NW Kip Lane Monday afternoon.

Homeowner Gary Lilla told police when he arrived home, he had seen it had been forcibly entered. He contacted his neighbor, Scott Iverson, who came over to assist him. When the two encountered Quigley inside, Lilla says the suspect threatened them with a small pistol before fleeing on foot with stolen property.

With help from alert citizens, police say they were able to track the suspect’s movements and later found him at 784 NW Carol Drive. Officers demanded Quigley come out, but he refused.

A SWAT team was activated to help authorities. After Quigley refused several demands to come out, he finally surrendered after a phone call from police without further incident.
