Lightning Strike Knocks Down Large Medford Tree

A lightning strike during yesterday’s storm shattered a large redwood tree on Shafer Lane in Medford. Ironically, it was a teenager named Storm who saw the incident.Storm told the Medford Mail Tribune a flash of light prompted him to look out his window, and he said it looked like the tree had exploded. It was one of several reported downed trees during the event that dropped over 15-hundreths of an inch of rain at the Medford airport. Though one Shafer Lane resident reported a branch from the fallen redwood poked through her roof, no one was hurt.
