The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports two incidents of a white or beige van attempting to make contact with a middle school-aged girl, the latest occurring this morning.

At 8:15 a.m., authorities were notified about an older beige-colored van. The driver is described as being in his 40s, with a bald or shaved head. The girl was walking to White Mountain Middle School in White City. The van slowed down and the driver started trying to ask the girl questions. The girl ran in the opposite direction. The van took off and was last seen traveling north on 24th Street, headed towards Avenue “G.”

A similar incident occurred on May 1, at 7:40 a.m., near Highway 62 and Avenue “H.” A driver in a passing vehicle noticed a white or beige van pulling alongside a middle school-aged girl. By the time the driver could get back for a better look, the van and the girl were gone. The van driver was described by the witness as being a white male in his 40s, with a large build, and scruffy salt and pepper hair.

The Sheriff’s office is investigating the similarities of these incidents to a recent incident in Phoenix.
