Economists: Oregon Economy Stable, Though Revenue Short
Oregon's budget appears stable for now.
Economists said Tuesday that tax and lottery collections are
down slightly from their earlier projections. But the declines were
offset by legal settlements and accounting maneuvers approved
earlier this year to rebalance the state budget.

Wednesday on a plan to eliminate 188 state jobs under a $28 million
budget cut that the Legislature approved earlier this year. The job
cuts would apply primarily to middle managers as part of a
legislative mandate to reduce the long-term cost of government.
