Bear Camp Road Open

The U.S. Forest Service says Bear Camp Road is now open for the 2012 recreational season. Due to lower levels of snow last winter, crews were able to make quick progress plowing the road. All seasonal gate closures, including Peavine-Serpintine and Galice Access Roads have been lifted.

Still, motorists are advised to avoid less traveled roads that may not be clear of snow, and to carry emergency supplies due to rapidly changing conditions. Forestry officials suggest having extra blankets, food and water, clothing and emergency equipment.
