Rainie Falls Search Called Off

The search for a 19-year old man who fell into the Rogue River at Rainie Falls 20 miles outside of Merlin Saturday afternoon has been called off. Sheriff’s deputies searched by raft, and a private plane also combed the area from overhead, but were unable to find Joshua Eddy.

Eddy’s next of kin has been notified. He is presumed drowned. Eddy was reportedly with a group of 6-8 people, when he fell into the water while trying to take a picture. River conditions this time of year are high, swift and cold. Due to the conditions, a Search and Rescue dive team was not deployed because of the danger, according to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Department.
