By Steve Best Wed 31st August News

A Phoenix man has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison over the 2005 stabbing of his girlfriend.

35-year-old Jose Perez-Silva fatally stabbed longtime girlfriend Ana Berthan Meraz alongside Interstate 5 after an early morning argument.

Silva’s defense had asked for a manslaughter verdict, claiming their client suffered from depression and a brain disease. However, the judge ruled Silva must spend at least 25 years in jail.
