Mt. Ashland offers summer service program teens.
Some hot summer work may bring some cool winter fun for Southern Oregon teenagers, as Steve Best explains...
A free summer camp gives 12 through 14 year-olds the chance to do some manual labor in exchange for community service credit, learning about the environment and a discount on a season ski pass for Mount Ashland. the youth summer service program shuttles children from Ashland and Medford up the mountain for various kinds of work, including bike trail improvements, erosion control and picking up trash. Organizers say the youth work crews also gain some valuable outdoors skills by the end of the four-day camp.
