The latest estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that Jackson County gained 1,190 jobs in the month of May. Retail trade sector gained 610 jobs, local government employment gained 180 jobs and construction gained 140 during the month. Nearly every published sector showed an improvement.Read More »
The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that Jackson County gained 1,160 jobs in April. In spite of the gain, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remains the same as March at 10.6 percent. Jackson County's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate dipped just slightly from 10-point-9 to 10-point-8 percent in the month of February. Josephine County remained unchanged at 11-point-6 percent. Losses in retail trade were countered by gains in the state and local government education sectors. Jackson County gained 50 jobs during the month.Read More »
