Jackson County Commissioners Take Pro-Gun Stand

In a victory for gun rights, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners say they oppose the expansion of background checks for potential owners of firearms. Commissioner Rick Dyer says the board wanted to be proactive should the Oregon legislature move to expand such a background check. It’s a notion that proponents say is needed as a safeguard to guns out of the hands of felons.

Dozens Arrested In State & Federal Drugs, Firearms Case

26 people have been arrested and seven search warrants have been served by law enforcement in a multi-agency drug investigation called “Rap It Up.” The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department says many of the suspects have gang ties and have been involved in everything from drug trafficking to prostitution to illegal gun activity.Read More »

30 Guns Found At Oregon Airports In 2013

Security agents found 30 guns last year on passengers boarding planes at Portland, Eugene, Medford and Redmond. The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/1iULphO) that 21 of the guns were found by Transportation Security Administration agents at Portland International Airport.Read More »

Eagle Point Man Arrested At Airport

Police at Portland International Airport say an Oregon man who was told he couldn't carry a loaded gun through a security checkpoint disregarded the recommendation that he check the pistol through as luggage. They say the man dropped the gun in an airport planter box.
