Suspected Thief Caught in Grants Pass

A report of a man in Grants Pass tampering with locks on dryers in a laundromat led to his arrest on a variety of theft charges. Police say 32-year old Brian Patrick Shipman had an outstanding warrant related to prior thefts of ATM machines at local mini-markets and coins from a ca wash. The Subway restaurant on Williams Highway in Grants Pass was the scene last night of an attempted robbery at 10:44 p.m. When the suspect demanded cash, the clerk triggered a “hold up” alarm, and the robber left empty-handed. Suspicious Activity Reported in Grants Pass

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office reports suspicious activity occurring at night in the Grants Pass area. Three young males have been noticed “casing” properties in the middle of the night. The suspicious persons apparently use bird calls to communicate. At this point, Sheriff Gil Gilbertson simply wants to the community to be aware of the activity.

Crown Market on Northeast “N” Street in Grants Pass was the scene of a robbery at 10:52 p.m. last night. A man came into the store, and asked for cigarettes, then pulled a gun from his waistband, demanding cash. The suspect escaped on foot after taking the money and cigarettes. The suspect is described as being between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-7 and 130 and 140 pounds. He appears to be in his 20s.Read More »
