The Oregon Department of Forestry is reporting eight new fires in southern Oregon after thunderstorms hit the area Monday afternoon. The largest is the Old Blue Mountain Fire, eight miles south of Rogue River, which at last report was at 60 acres. The fire is occurring in what forestry officials say is difficult to reach terrain. Small Fire Breaks Out On Kane Creek; Other Fires Near Full Containment

A half-acre fire in the Kane Creek Road area near Gold Hill kept firefighters busy this morning. Crews were able to limit the spread of the fire, due in part to the more favorable conditions the morning offers. Two Structure Fires Burn in Southern Oregon

Two early morning fires destroyed homes in southern Oregon this morning. Both remain under investigation. At 12:15 a.m., O-D-F firefighters, the Butte Falls Fire Department, and Jackson County Fire District 4, responded to a 9-1-1 call to a home at 1991 Crowfoot Road. Southeastern Oregon Wildfire Update

A southeast Oregon wildfire has spread to nearly 250 square miles on Friday and continued to threaten homes near Harney Lake. A fire management team spokeswoman says crews have brought three helicopters to help battle the blaze that began Sunday on grass and sagebrush.
