Eagle Point Canceled, Information Lines Established
Eagle Point school employees are on strike, and the Southern Oregon district has canceled classes the rest of the week. The acting president of the Eagle Point Education Association, Dave Carrell, said the strike began at 6 a.m. Tuesday.He says negotiators worked all night and were still talking as the strike began. The district northeast of Medford had said it would resume classes on Wednesday with substitute teachers.After the strike began, the district announced that classes would resume next week. Only a few activities, including varsity sports, are to continue as scheduled. The two sides have differences on pay, working hours and subcontracting jobs.
